Microsoft might be planning something extra special for PC gamers when Windows 8 finally comes out – rumours are flying around the tech world that they are planning to let Window 8 users to play Xbox 360 games on their PC's.
The rumour comes from gaming site Teknylate and follows on from other gossip when the new OS was revealed last month.
Apparently Xbox 360 titles are already compatible with PC’s already and would just need some clever software to make it happen. The same report claims Ballmer and co are plotting a special, Xbox Live-like service for PC players.
It’s is not known whether your PC would just use a software emulation to achieve this or, more likely, whether you’ll need to buy some sort of hardware card to allow your computer to play games from the disk at a respectable frame rate.
But you have to wonder if (depending how much it costs) I would not be better off by buying an Xbox 360 console?
Whether games would need to be installed or whether they would play from the CD is not known, but it could be a major coup for Windows 8 – although could undermine Xbox 360 sales, but many insiders reckon this is the latest move to ensure titles for the console continue to sell even when Microsoft concentrates on their new console at, potentially, next year's E3
Would you play Xbox 360 games on your PC ? Or is it another hair-brain idea like Games For Windows, which was canned a few weeks ago. As ever let us know below.
