Lovefilm had recently been acquired by Amazon, but it does not mean that it is out of our reach now. Samsung has announced that it
is planning to add Lovefilm's movie streaming feature as app to its Blu-ray players in the UK. The app will have to be activated using Lovefilm subscription of £5.99 or above. Once activated, you will be able to stream movie to your Blu-ray player using Samsung's Internet@TV service. Currently, Samsung commands about 25 percent share of European Blu-ray market.
Samsung is also working on creating its own TV App Store, so you can look forward to having even more features on your Samsung products. Initially, Lovefilm application will be available in the UK only. The company has not announced any dates or plans for extending the facility to Europe. Lovefilm, which commanded a price of £200 million, has wide range of movies available in its portfolio. By the way, Lovefilm streaming is already available on PlayStation consoles as well.
