Original Xbox 360 is nearing its 5th anniversary, which makes it a senior citizen in the gaming world. However, if you areexpecting to lay your hands on new Xbox hardware any time soon, then you are in for big disappointment. Stephen McGill, the Director of Xbox UK, has broken many a hearts when he announced that the new version of Xbox is not expected to materialize for a few more years. Seems like, the company is more interested in upgrading the software side of the current console and is not much concerned about bringing about new hardware.
However, seems like this trend is fast becoming the modus operandi of the gaming industry. Even Sony is now more interested in granting longevity to its console, instead of introducing the newer ones at a fast pace. Xbox UK's head honcho also downplayed the role of Blu-ray drive, claiming that the world is now prepared for instant viewing instead. He said that the company now offers full HD streaming service, which more or less renders blu-ray drives useless. Microsoft is scheduled to launch its motion sensing device Kinect on November 4 in the United States .

I doubt this will work in the UK or other countries with poor quality broadband services. I can only just stream HD video over my broadband during off-peak times and I believe many people in the UK are in the same situation.
This guy is so far out of touch I wonder which planet he is living on.
As the previous poster stated, internet speeds wont allow streming content – this extremely sad statement just goes to show how much Microsfot is in the grip of marketers.
People will vote with their feet – if a new console comes out that is better than the XBox, they will buy that instead and leave the dead technology behind.
How stupid.
Given XBox is based on PC technology that hardware incompatibility issue should not even exist,, all old gaems should play on any new system,, if XBox created a set of continuously improved hardware,, as per PCs,, they’d rule the market place… god these guys are dumb.
