Apple has announced that the WiFi iPad will be launching in China this Friday the 17th September.
The iPad will go on sale at 10am in Apple retail stores and authorized resellers. All three WiFi models will be made available starting at the lowest end which is the 16GB version. This model will cost CNY3988 ($590 USD.) The 32GB model will cost CNY4788 ($708) and the 64GB model will cost CNY5588 ($826).
Apple Retail Stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to every customer who buys an iPad at the store, helping them customize their new iPad by setting up their email, loading their favorite apps etc Apple Retail Stores in China are also hosting special iPad workshops to help customers learn more about the ipad.
After becoming available in the US and Europe, Apple are planning to spread the iPads wings and bring it to more and more countries around the globe. According to Steve and co "The iPad will roll out to many more countries later this year and Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date." The pads attempt at global domination starts now but will there be competition established by the time it rolls out to other countries? We've seen India's plans to release a $35 tablet device and if other countries follow suit apple may lose out, especially in poorer 'less digital' countries.
Apple are said to have pushed for a rapid release of the WiFi ipad in order to avoid unofficial tablet devices and grey marketers which have plagued Apple releases in the past in China.
China's a huge market for Apple to aim at. Do you think they will do well with the iPad?
