3D videos are all the rage nowadays, and in the consumer segment, 3D TVs seem to hog all the attention. However, now there is another 3D toy, you can indulge yourself with.
DXG has launched a handy 3D camcorder, DXG-5D7V. This little gizmo is both PC and Mac friendly. The camera comes equipped with 3.2 inch 3D TFT LCD screen. Apart from the 3D functionality, the camcorder has pretty run of the mill features such as 4x digital zoom and SD card support. It is also capable of taking still shots in 5 megapixels. Videos are recorded in 3D H.264 AVI format. The camera can be connected to a 3D display via HDMI, USB and AV cables. The handycam package has been priced at $599.99 and comes with a 7 inch 3D media payer, which can stream videos in 800×480 resolution.
However, DXG is not the only option you have, Panasonic too introduced its 3D camcorder a couple of days back. Although, I would say that DXG is better suited for beginners due to its compact size and simplicity. Panasonic's HDC-SDT750 features a 3D conversion lens, which splits the image and allows it to be recorded as 3D, although the resolution for these 3D videos will be measly 960×1080. Both DXG and Panasonic allow you to record videos and stills in usual 2D format. Panasonic will launch its offering in October at a rather hefty price of $1,399. In the meantime DXG is open for pre-order and will start shipping on August 6. Looks like James Cameron is now going to get some serious competition.
