Researchers have uncovered what they seem to think is a flaw in Windows 7 that has no fix. At the Hack in the Box Security Conference in Dubai, Vipin Kumar and Nitin Kumar demonstrated their Vbootkit 2.0 software, and used it to take control of a computer running Windows 7 at boot time.

Interview with David Friend, CEO of Carbonite.

Back in March, I wrote an article about Carbonite, where I reported on a possible loss of data effecting users backups. Very quickly, we had a response to the post from the CEO of Carbonite David Friend, who stated that there had been a problem with the firmware on the Promise servers they were using. Linux foundation chew the FAT.

Recently, it may have come to your attention that Microsoft and TomTom, the satnav maker, have reached a settlement over a patent dispute. The dispute revolves around the FAT file system, and it’s use in the TomTom’s Linux based OS. Microsoft said that the use of this file system infringed their patent, and so to court.
