Convergent technology sounded like a great idea when it first hit the scenes. No longer would you need a separate device to take holiday snaps, call your bro to gloat about being at the beach and pump out your tunes to the annoyance of sunbathers around you; you could theoretically do all of this on just one piece of kit.
