If you ever find your right foot twitching every time you come to a set of red traffic lights, as your desperation to to get on the gas overwhelms you, this competition may be of interest.
Ahead of the UK launch of the new Golf GTI on 22 May, Volkswagen is giving you the opportunity to race online to win a new GTI- albeit for 3 months, but still, that’s not a bad prize to get you around the country for Summer holidays.
To win the chance to feed your racing hunger on the streets of Dover, all you need to do is… win a race.
Volkswagen have created a Scalextric track with a difference. Instead of being something that fits in your kitchen, this one has been constructed inside a hangar.
The track is the work of a team of 60 modellers and features over 200 scale buildings in a 25ft by 30ft space. It forms the basis for the 'GTI Project', an online game that allows you to control the 1:43 scale Golf GTI as it negotiates the hairpins, straights and narrow bridges that make up the track.
To test your gaming skills, just log onto the GTI Project website.
If virtuality isn’t your thing and you just can’t wait to get behind the driver’s seat of a real car, prices for the three-door Golf GTI start at £22,410. Obviously, the free Scalextric version is a bit easier on the hip pocket, and who knows- you might even walk away with the real thing anyway.
