ASUS Eee 1080HA Seashell available from 15th May

ASUS’ newest Eee range offering, the 1080HA Seashell will be arriving in just 9 days time, 15th May, for us lucky Brits.asus_1008ha-closed

The success of the Eee range of netbooks, and self-creation of the class as a whole is unquestionable, so when we heard that an even slicker, more featherweight looking machine was on the way we couldn’t wait for a few more of the details.

Enter the 1080HA Seashell, at just 1.1kgs and with a 10-inch screen this device is sat firmly in the middle of ultra-sleek netbook territory. It essentially offers few upgrades beyond a svelte, more styled exterior, and so under the bonnet you’ll find the same 1.6Ghz Atom processor, 160GB hard drive and 1GB RAM.

asus-1008ha-openAs you’d expect the Seashell comes packing WiFi B/G as well as N and Bluetooth connectivity amongst a host of other goodies – including a 1.3-megapixel webcam and multi-function card reader.

According to PC Advisor the new Seashell device will retail at £379 inc. VAT when it goes on sale on the 15th May, which sounds just a little bit expensive for a 10-inch netbook that essentially has the same specs as the older models in the range, but hey, we’re suckers for something slim, new and shiny so bring it on!

Release dates for other regions are yet to be confirmed but if we hear anything we’ll update you just as soon as we know.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
