With Twitter becoming the hottest thing on the web as of late, it should be no surprise that it’s attracted the likes of a giant in the tech world.twit1

According to a TechCrunch source, "Apple is in late stage negotiations to buy Twitter and is hoping to announce it at WWDC in June."

So how much does the hottest social networking site cost to make your own? Try USD$700 million… in cash. Seems like credit has become a dirty word in the corporate industry.

It is worth noting that this report is still very much in rumour-mill stages, with neither Twitter or Apple able to confirm the claim.

What does make this report seem rather ambitious is the price. Twitter was last valued at USD$250 million, which is far cry from the amount Apple reportedly have on the table.

If the deal does go ahead, it would be Apple bringing improvements to Twitter instead of the other way around. There are already numerous Twitter apps available for the iPhone and not too many more ways of integrating the site into Apple’s products. If Twitter is looking to expand, it wouldn’t hurt to have a giant company backing it.

Do you think there’s a deal to be done here? Leave us a comment and let us know.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
