The Gadget Show Live: The Big Round-up!

logo_gadget

Over the weekend (17th-19th April) we attended ‘The Gadget Show Live’. Tickets were sold out but three of our team including myself were able to get some tickets to attend this event.

For those of you who didn’t manage to get your hands on a ticket I have done a basic round up of the show, highlighting some of the key stands there and of course some of those cheeky smaller ones which got everybody talking. Also, make sure you keep yourself tuned over the next couple of days as we will be showing you some exclusive pictures and footage of some of the gadget stands we visited!

cyberclean1_resized_kompjpgAnthony Strodder Associates Ltd

First in my list because obviously it beings with an ‘A’ is Anothony Strodder Associates. On show here was the Cyber Clean, a revolutionary cleaning compound , designed to clean cavities where it absorbs dirt and residues and kills germs. The demonstration they gave here was great, showing just how good this stuff was at cleaning pretty much anything, so if you’ve got any dirt you want to remove, get on top of this product for sure.

Badges & More

One of the smaller stands at the show was from Badges & More, who displayed their selection of spy pens and ID cards, which gave full colour video and sound recording all from a tiny hidden pinhole camera available to replay at your computer, what great gadgets these were!

Blackberry

Blackberry this year had one of the biggest stands at the show, offering the chance to see most of their phones from the low end 7200 Series right through to their high end Storm, which let me tell you, attracted a lot of attention. “Connect To Everything You Love In Life” is their marketing slogan and if their stand was anything to go by, you should be in cloud nine!

Cancer Research UK

relay_logoAlthough nothing to do with gadgets, the cancer research stand attracted it’s fair share of customers as part of a massive charity and is something we should all strive to do something for. Relay For Life is a unique event which celebrates life and honours those affected by cancer. This is a great way to do something positive for your community so go on, get involved.

DIGISKIN

digiskinlogo_w2DIGISKIN is a revolutionary new product that offers consumers a facility to personalise their favourite tech toy, and yes we meananything. DIGISKIN has no rules about what they can and can’t do so if you want your favourite tech toy personalised head over to DIGISKIN by clicking their sub-heading. Recommended by some of the customers personally at the show!

DIY Kyoto

home_wattson_569jpgA genius idea! The product on show, that DIY Kyoto call ‘Wattson‘, is the only personal energy monitor that speaks to your whole family with a uniquecoloured light system. For example Wattson turns blue when you save money. Wattson helps you conveniently control your household electricity bills….great idea.

East 4 West Ltd

The ultimate in luxury bean bagging! This stand highlighted East 4 West Ltd’s extremely durable, soft to the touch, breathable and waterproof beanbags. What more could you ask for from a beanbag? Wow!

Electronic Arts (EA)

imagesNow we Gaj-Iteers have all heard of the gaming company EA. At this year’s The Gadget Show Live, EA brought a hub, packed with the latest EA releases on all the best platforms such as PS3 and Xbox 360. All day long this place was heaving, and around 2.00pm you had to queue to get in! This stand was a hit at the show.

FakeTV/ Saboteur Crime Prevention

fake_tv_logoAlthough this stand was relatively small, the idea behind their products is just something of pure imagination and quitefrankly….greatness. Their main product is FakeTV, which simulates the exact light output of a LCD TV giving the appearance from outside that someone is watching TV. The logic behind this is that a house is much less likely to be targeted by thieves if they see that the house appears occupied. This product has received a lot of publicity, appearing on ITV1’s This Morning and BBC2’s Dragon’s Den.

Geek Squad

Got a techy problem and just can’t figure out how to deal with it? Geek Squad are a dedicated team of tech experts who are passionate about helping you get the most out of your technology. This stand was a feature stand at the show so it was pretty big with a constant flow of customers with general questions and queries. If you didn’t manage to get to the show and need help in any way, visit their website by clicking on their sub-heading.

Gocycle

Giving constant demonstrations all day, Gocycle were present at the show showing their lightweight urban-two wheeler developed with young cityprofessionals in mind. Gocycle combines on-demand electric power, portability and style to offer the rider a no-effort, no-emission and low-cost urban transport solution.

Live Luggage Ltd

thumbnail_215jpgLeading the way in power assisted luggage, Live Luggage Ltd displayed at the show most of their range. Don’t tell me you’ve not ever packed a bag too much and then it’s actually a little too heavy to carry….don’t sweat, now Live Luggage  Ltd’s power assisted luggage can help you. It’s main strength is it’s weight, the technology in these bags make the bags feel almost completely weightless. Check out Ruth post on the Self propelled suitcase here.

Loc8tor

loc8tor-logoEver lost that all important item? I have, and I do it all the time (my mobile phone being the latest casualty). ‘Don’t lose it, locate it’ is the slogan for Loc8tor, with the current range finding misplaced possessions easily, it keeps track of everything, from pets, to keys, mobiles and even your own kids. Check out Tanya post on the Loc8tor here

mopay.co.uk

At stand E5 was a relatively new idea from mopay.co.uk, they are mobile phone recyclers that pay you cash for your old mobile phone, up to £300 in some cases. mopay.co.uk is one of the UK’s leading companies in this area, and it’s a really good idea because I know that I for one have about six old mobiles phones in a draw somewhere. I still don’t see how this company makes money though?

Revomaze

Think back to the Rubik’s Cube of 1974, still ever popular in todays culture. The Revomaze is a new puzzle piece, which aims to challenge the biggest puzzle enthusiasts in the world. A lot of people fancied their chances at this, much like you do when you pick up a Rubik’s Cube and you change one column only to find you’ve actually dug yourself deeper in trying to solve it, but I didn’t see anybody solve the puzzle whilst i was watching. so if your a puzzle enthusiast, check this product out.

Sound Asleep Pillow

logo-1Some of you may of already seen this product, as one of our bloggers Ruth recently did a post if you can remember back. Soundasleep’s unique innovation design requires no headphones, it’s a pillow with a speaker built inside and n auxiliary input for your iPod, MP3 and CD player. A great idea for when you want to listen to your music in bed without earphones which usually hurts your ears or feels awkward. For more information please click the name sub-heading.

TomTom

‘The smart choice in personal navigation’ company, TomTom, were at the show showing off their new GO Live range featuring the top of the range 940.images-1 Satellite navigation is still only present in about 1/3 of motor vehicles, so this is a massive market and TomTom are trying to capture the market in which they already rank highly with this new range. The Live demonstrations by the team on stand D51 were drawing in the crowds all day as their new products are truly something!

The show was a great day, and I and I’m sure our other two bloggers that also went thoroughly recommend trying to go if you can next year.

And that’s it,  if you want to enquire about going to the show next year then please visit the shows website by clicking here.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
