So movie sequels are never as good as the original, right? Well thankfully in the mobile phone world… a sequel can only mean one thing - improvement. Well, that's what I'd like to think anyway.
So as MWC gets well underway, HTC announce the release of the Touch Diamond 2 and the Touch Pro 2. What improvements can they offer on the originals?
“The HTC Touch Pro2 and HTC Touch Diamond2 introduce a mobile communication experience that simplifies how we communicate with people in our lives whether through voice, text or email," said Peter Chou, president and CEO, HTC Corp. "HTC is delivering the latest, cutting-edge sophistication in a broad portfolio of mobile phones that improve how people live, work and communicate.”
Continuing to boast a compact and distinct style, both handsets now feature a larger 3.2inch VGA touchscreen, with a high-resolution wide-screen display and a new touch sensitive zoom bar, for quicker zooming of web pages, photos and the likes.
Both feature expandable memory, promise improved battery life and have gravity, proximity and ambient light sensors. The Touch Diamond 2 now features a 5.0megapixel camera with auto-focus.
Both feature the TouchFlo3D UI, and this is now said to be better integrated with Windows Mobile (v. 61).
The Touch Pro 2 features HTC's new Straight Talkâ„¢ technology. Straight Talkâ„¢ delivers an integrated email, voice and speakerphone system, allowing the user to move effortlessly from email to conference call.
With asymmetric speakers, advanced noise suppression and full duplex acoustics, Straight Talkâ„¢ delivers a sophisticated and high quality speakerphone experience, similar to those found in a corporate boardroom.
The Touch Diamond 2 will be available in early Q2 and the Touch Pro 2 will be available at the beginning of the summer.
Furthermore, Microsoft have also announced their new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, and confirmed that when the new HTC handsets go on sale, customers will be offered the option of upgrading to 6.5.
