Free music streaming with Spotify

Spotify is a streaming program which grants free availability to over 10,000 songs. As many already know there are plenty of sites out there what deliver free streaming, the most popular being MySpace. The new Spotify program you can get unlimited amount of free streaming, sort of like a push up bra for your music collection. The beauty about this is that it's possible to do without having to type constant URL addresses and waiting an excruciating amount of time for the page to load when you're on a slow computer.

Unfortunately you can't access it from any computer, it's a downloadable the program which I've had on my laptop for a week and I've had no problems. There are a few limitations, with some labels not yet included in its database, Sub Pop, Domino and others, and the obvious flaw being that these are not accessible to download for your iPod or MP3, but a step forward to having free access to a world of music at your finger tips. The songs also get interrupted by adverts which happen between songs, the disruptions aren't too regular to stop you enjoying the music. Regardless of its accessibility to some labels it still grants you to stream lesser known music, like Propaganda, Bayside or Rihanna if that's your taste. Get on to ww.Spotify.com when you get the chance, it prevents long waits for downloads, gives you more choice of songs and it's greatly more liberal.

  • Absolutely wonderful app. I’ve been using it solidly for a couple of months. It’s a great shame the catalogue as skinned down a few weeks ago, but it’s still great.
A web interface would be great too…(just in case anyone from spotify is reading)

  • I love Spotify. I’m a huge Meat Loaf fan, and I actually found a track of his that I’d never heard before on here.

Can you get it without an invite now then?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
