Revealed at CES in Vegas was the Sony W508 Walkman phone. "The W508 Walkmanâ„¢ phone builds on our iconic Walkmanâ„¢ range and the successful W380." said Alexandre Cardon, Global Product Marketing Manager (music) at Sony Ericsson. "For those who like to express their style and individuality through their mobile phone we've brought our creative design team in to design stylish changeable covers so that W508 offers a truly interactive and individual experience."

Style
This stylish new flip phone by Sony Ericsson comes in a choice of Poetic White and Metal Grey. For those who like their phone to suit their mood, there are 8 changeable 'Style-Up' covers; Sunny Orange, Forest Green, Architectural Purple, Mysterious Graffiti, Midnight Summer, Splashed Art, Radical Blue and Street Hip-hop.
The phone's dimensions are 93.5x50x14mm and it weighs 98 grams. It features a 2.2inch (240×320 pixel) scratch resistant TFT screen and an external 1.1 inch (128x360pixel) monochrome scratch resistant OLED screen.
Under the Bonnet
The W508 has a 100mb internal memory with expansion support via an M2 card (Memory Stick Micro).
The battery will give you up to 10 hours talk time, 400 hours standby time, 2 hours video call time and 24 hours of music listening time.
It features Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, HSDPA, EDGE, an accelerometer and gesture control.
Features
The Walkman, supporting MP3 and AAC formats, features album art, Mega Bass, TrackID, shake control, SensMe for matching mood to music and PlayNow arena for downloading music, themes, ringtones, wallpapers etc.
The W508 features a 3.2megapixel camera with digital zoom, photo fix, picture blogging, video recording and video blogging.
Access the internet through the Access NetFront browser, get RSS feeds and keep in touch via email and Instant Messaging.
It features a YouTube application, video viewing, video streaming, FM Radio with RDS, Java, motion gaming, 3D games, Walk Mate and the usual extras like tasks, calendar, calculator etc.
Along with the phone and usual extras in the box, you'll also get a 1GB M2 card and an extra Style-Up cover.
We Say:
It looks to be a pretty cool phone. Nothing especially outstanding, i.e. whopping huge memory or WiFi and GPS, so I can't see this handset costing an arm and a leg. Hopefully we'll be able to get our hands on it in the near future, where we can bring you a full review and our verdict. It's said to be available for purchase in May.
