Search engine Yahoo! has signed a deal with Virgin Mobile, making it the exclusive search engine for Virgin’s four million mobile subscribers.
This move will allow Yahoo! to increase its share of mobile search engine users in the UK to 80 per cent.
After living in Google’s shadow as the preferred search engine of desktop computers, this new deal with Virgin is being seen as Yahoo’s attempt to make a comeback.
Yahoo now has 70 similar deals globally, which theoretically giving it access to 850 million mobile users.
