Can You SNIFF Me Now?…How About Now?…Now?

Don't you just hate those conversations you have with your friends when you arrange to meet them and it's somewhere you have never been before?

“Where are you?” You Ask

“Upstairs by the bogs” They Say

So you head upstairs only to find that

A) Its packed to the rafters

or

B) You can't even see anything let alone a sign telling you where the toilets are

Well it seems those days could be a thing of the past thanks to the rather clever technology that has been released by the rather strangely named company called SNIFF (…but I suppose that's better than saying Social Networking Integrated Friend Finder each time).

So how does it work? Well, you and your friends sign up to the SNIFF service and when you’re out and about, either at the above situation or other activities such as gigs, you simply send a text message from your phone using the SNIFF service asking it to find one of your friends for example:

sniff Bob

The service will then check your account find out who Bob is and once that is done will find out where Bob is by the location of his mobile and it will when text you back with Bobs location.

With this service being totally optional, users are able to make themselves ‘invisible’ at any time just in case you wish to go and see that ‘special’ someone but don't want your friends to find out about.

However, don’t think you can use your standard text message rates; instead for each text you make you will be charged 50p. However with the service getting more and more popular, the creators have mentioned that this rate may be lower at a future point so I’d say ‘sniff’ this page.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
