Apple now has 85 million subscribers using its iCloud. This should not come as a surprise as the company is pretty much accustomed to having its product and services flying off the shelf. According to Apple chief executive officer, Tim Cook, iCloud is likely to become an important part of Apple portfolio.
Tim Cook said, "We're thrilled with iCloud and the response from customers has been incredible. It was a fundamental shift, recognizing that people had numerous devices and wanted their content in the cloud. 85 million customers in three months; It's not a product, it's a strategy for the next decade."
iCloud was unveiled in 2011 at Apple Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC. iCloud users can store their data on cloud, which enables them to access the data from multiple devices. However, you need to be on an iOS or Mac device for this purpose. iCloud led to the demise of MobileMe service. In less than a year, the service now has 85 million users.
Apple chief also talked about Apple TV and announced that the company sold 1.4 million units during the last quarter of previous calendar year. However, he emphasized that the product is still a 'hobby'. Tim Cook stated, "We still classify this as a hobby, but we continue to add things to it. I couldn't live without it. We think it's a fantastic product and we continue to pull strings and see where we can take it."
