Here we go again! Though current rumors are pointing that Apple would be releasing next generation iPad in February to commemorate Steve Jobs' birthday, news website DigiTimes has generated a new wave of speculations stating that Apple may go for even earlier launch of the tablet. It has also hinted that instead of debuting just one tablet, the Cupertino company may choose to unveil two tablets.
DigiTimes has claimed that the new tablets are likely to be launched on January 26th during iWorld. Apple is also expected to keep iPad 2 alive. This way, it would be able to tap low, middle and top end of the market. DigiTimes as claimed that with the introduction of two new tablets, iPad 2 will serve as a direct competitor to Kindle Fire. Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet is currently retailing at $199 price point. Though, it is highly unlikely that Apple would slash iPad 2's price to that level, but it may be able to poach some of Fire's market share by lowering the price considerably.
The sources also said that both the tablets will be 9.7 inch size, thus, rubbishing the 7-inch iPad rumors. The new tablets are also expected to come with faster A6 processor. The display is likely to be at 1536 x 2084 and will be supplied by Sharp.

The obvious answer to this question is NO.
Apple don’t give customers that many options because they know what we want better than we do. They’ll bring out the iPad 3 with 3 memory options and maybe continue the iPad 2 as a budget option.
