iPhone is the Most Popular Celebrity Around: Yahoo

Move on movie stars, singers and sport stars, it is iPhone which is the most widely searched entity of 2011. According to Yahoo, people searched the term 'iPhone' more than any other stars including reality stars and pop stars. Other occupants of top 5 most searched terms spots are Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez. Yahoo had been disclosing its top searched terms from last 10 years.

Vera Chan, a web trend analyst at Yahoo!, said, "This is the first time since 2002 that we have had a gadget at No.1, which is an iPhone. Even though the product has been around for four years it just became such a major news story." She also said that the death of Apple founder also contributed to the high search count for iPhone.

Women dominated the top 10 list with 6 occupants. Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan grabbed the sixth spot for her jail stunt and court appearances. Jennifer Aniston took 8th spot on the list. Osama bin Laden and Japan earthquake also made it to the top 10 list. So, the majority of the spots were grabbed by persons and not news stories. Britney Spears, who had been included in the list for last 4 years, failed to make it this year. Yahoo bases its list on billions of consumer searches and the network.
