HP Admits Apple to be the king of PC Market

HP's new CEO Meg Whitman finally said it. According to her, Apple is doing "a great job". Apple, which once was a minor competitor to behemoth HP, is now poised to overtake HP and HP CEO believes that it may happen as early as next year. She revealed this opinion while talking with French newspaper Le Figaro.

Market Research firm Canalys had recently reported that Apple would be the top PC vendor in e01e, thanks to burgeoning iPads and Macs sales. Upon being asked, Meg Whitman said that she believes it can be true. She said, "I think it’s possible if you integrate the shelves. Apple makes a great job. We need to improve our game and our products to take over the leadership position. Apple could go past HP in 2012. We will try to become the champion in 2013. It takes time for the products on which I have come to influence the market.”

Meg Whitman is currently working to turn around the future of HP.  She said that she has formed two teams on 100 HP employees each. These groups will contemplate whether HP should spin off its PC division. The company also has to decide the fate of webOS and the decision is likely to be made within a week. The company decision will be responsible for the future of 600 odd HP employees working on webOS projects.

Meg Whitman also claimed that tablet demand is not likely to have any impact on PC sales. She said, "Our studies show that this is an additional purchase that does not encroach on the PC market." She said that tablets are mainly for "consumer media and emails".
