Google had been running its music service in Beta form for quite some time, but now it has gone live. Google Music, which is closely aligned with Google+, is all set to challenge iTunes and some more. The internet search engine giant is collaborating with over 1000 record labels to bring more than 13 million songs to its users. the service will also feature an online store, where you can buy your favorite tracks.
Google is optimizing the service with the use of "digital lockers", where the users will be able to store up to 20,000 their tracks. The company is also doing its best to resurrect its social networking endeavor Google+. If you buy any track from Google Music, the purchase would be automatically listed on your th3 social networking site page, and your friends would be able to listen to that song one time. If your friends are not on Google+, then they will get the invite to join the social networking site, in order to listen to the song. Google is certainly going all apes for increasing its Google+ subscriber base.
Most of the tracks in the collection are priced at $0.99 or $1.29 price point. Currently there are about 8 million tracks available. The company would be adding 5 million more tracks shortly. Since the songs would be stored in the cloud, you would be able to stream the songs directly without taking up any local storage. However, it will also allow you to download the songs for offline listening. The service is already live in the US and it will be available in other countries in the coming weeks.
