Enjoy Free Wi-Fi in London with Nokia

Nokia is planning to bring some free Wi-Fi fun to London. The Finnish company would be collaborating with Spectrum Interactive for this purpose. And the good thing is that free Wi-Fi would be available to all the products, not just the Nokia branded ones. Initially, there are going to be 26 hotspots spread across Central London. Nokia is planning to expand the initiative to other cities in the UK as well.

The network will come with single login feature. Once you agree with Nokia and Spectrum's terms and conditions, you do not need to login again. Spectrum Interactive is claiming that the network would provide up to 1 Mbps download speed. It will have 500Kbps upload speed. Spectrum would be using its pay phone kiosk as the data source. If you have access to Nokia maps then you can easily find out the location of these hotspots.

Nokia said that it will use Central London data to determine the feasibility of such networks. Nokia seems to have global ambitions in this regard as its spokesperson said, "We'll look at how we can take those opportunities to other cities in the world"¦it's really looking at how we bring all that together."

The trial has already started today. The free Wi-Fi bonanza will last until December.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
