iPhone 4S did not receive warm welcome form industry experts on its release, but the public is more than happy to grab yet another Apple device. According to a report released by the company, it sold more than 4 million units of the phone within 3 days of its launch. If the phone is able to sustain its momentum, then it is highly likely that it will dethrone Microsoft's Kinect for being the fastest selling gadget of all time. Kinect set the record by selling 8 million units in 60 days.
The best part about this sales figure is that the phone is currently available only in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France and Japan. However, 22 more countries will get the phone on 28th of October, while by the end of this year, the phone would be available in 70 countries globally. So, let's just do a little maths to derive how many units Apple is going to sell once it is available in 22 more countries by October end. According to Phil Schiller, Apple's head of marketing, iPhone 4S has actually recorded double the sales figures posted by iPhone 4.
The company also provided some other figures. Its latest iOS5 has also proven itself to be a big star. Apple said that the OS has been downloaded 25 million times so far. The OS was launched last week. iCloud service has also notched up 20 million users. Apple has integrated iCloud with iTunes and offers wireless synchronization over shared Wi-Fi network. It also provides you an option to keep the back up on your computer or on the cloud.
