While it is still debatable whether Kindle Fire is an iPad Killer or not, but the new device is sure going to be a hot property for Amazon. At least that's what Amazon and industry expert believe. According to a Rodman & Renshaw analyst, the company is destined to ship over 5 million units during the fourth quarter of the year. Just to put the things in perspective, Apple ships about 10 million+ units of iPad in a quarter and other tablets have tough time even managing to breach a million unit shipment mark.
The same analyst had earlier predicted up to four million units shipment in the fourth quarter. So, what is this sudden exuberance all about? The numbers have been bumped to account for the smashing pre-order figures posted by Amazon. Though, with decent specs and very decent price tag, the quasi tablet was bound to be a hit, but getting record pre-orders was kind of reassuring. Just for the record, Kindle Fire garnered about 215,000 orders during the first six days of its launch and it is assumed that sales will gain more traction once the product starts shipping on November 15.
Amazon Tablet is loosely based on Android operating system, which has been so heavily layered with Amazon customization that it is no longer recognizable in its original form. However, with this, Amazon will also be able to differentiate itself from the herd of Android tablets, which so far have failed miserably in gaining recognition. Let's see if Amazon Fire turns out to be a worthy iPad opponent!

There is a big difference between shipping and selling and an even bigger difference between selling and consistently selling.
Apple products sell consistently.
iPad killer indeed  not that regularly used and never correct phrase again.
