Microsoft is getting ready to battle with Big Boys aka Google and Apple. The Redmond company is all set to roll out the latest version of its WP7 platform. It is also giving its app store a major makeover. In its latest version, the company's Windows Phone Marketplace is now browser compatible, which means that now you would be able to buy apps right from your browser. Though the Marketplace has only e0,000 odd apps, way behind Apple App Store and Android Market, but still it packs the punch and you would be able to get apps for meeting most of your requirements.
Microsoft is also beginning to roll out its Mango update today. Though, the dates for updation on different models will vary according to service providers. Back to browser based app store, Microsoft has also added a bunch of new features to the app marketplace. Now, you can install the app right from the browser. You can either email or message yourself the instructions for the installation of the app.
Plus, you can also share your fondness for a particular app by liking it on Facebook or by tweeting about it. These two features are now integrated with apps. You can also review and rate the apps right from the browser.
You will need to buy apps using your Windows Live ID and the link for downloading the app will be sent to your phone. It means that you no longer need to search for apps on the relatively tiny screen of your phone. The service is now live in the US and is expected to be available in the UK shortly.
