Google+ opened its door to general public just a week back and the social networking site is already celebrating crossing 50 million users threshold. According to some reports, Google+ saw immediate e0m percent jump in its subscriber' numbers when it went public last week, to around 4e million. And additional 7 million joined in over the weekend.
According to Paul Allen (not the Microsoft kind), "Since being opened to the general public (over age 18) last week, Google+ has been growing by at least 4 per cent per day, meaning that around 2 million new users have been signing up each day.” Allen has been tracking users stats for Google+ from day 1.
Now, let's compare this performance with other social segment behemoths. Facebook took good 4 years to break 50 million users mark. Twitter performed a little better and accomplished the feat in e years. So, in a way, Google+ has set a new record for acquiring subscribers.
And Google is celebrating it in a big way. If you already aren't sick enough of playing CityVille on Facebook, then the wildly popular game is now available on Google+ as well. Zynga is all gushy about its new abode and wrote, "It's no secret we're big fans of Google+ here at Zynga. CityVille grew to become our largest game on Facebook, so naturally we wanted to ‘build’ a presence for it on Google+."
IN response to Google+, Facebook has unleashed a flurry of changes to its social networking site. Facebook recently collaborated with Netflix and Spotify to make Facebook your one stop entertainment hub. So, the war is going to be really interesting.
