Whether Apple admits it or not but most of the users sorely miss Flash on their iOS devices. But crafty Adobe has now found a circuitous way to bring itsFlash to iOS users. The company unveiled its new products Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5 and Adobe Flash Access 3.0 and these products mean that now iOS device users will be able to use Flash on their devices. What more! This move actually does not require any approval from the Apple Headquarters. We still remember Apple-Adobe feud, don’t we!
During the IBC Trade Show in Amsterdam, Adobe announced that with the help of Flash Media Server 4.5, publishers can stream their Flash content to iOS devices and thus it bypasses getting support from Safari. According to Adobe Media Server 4.5 is a “single, simple workflow” and it reduces costs by removing the need to produce different content for different devices. Similarly, Flash Access 3.0 will also feature support for various mobile protocols such as iOS and Android. Access 3.0 has been priced at $995 while Media Server 4.5 has a heftier price tag at $4,500.
Apple and Adobe had long been feuding over supremacy of HTML5 over Flash. And it looks like Adobe is finally conceding to Apple’s point of view. Essentially what Media Server is going to do is to convert Flash content into HTML5 form so that the content becomes iOS friendly. Apple banned Flash products from iOS as it considered them to be energy hogs. The new products show that Adobe is finally ready to move on to mobile era, where it needs to innovate in order to survive.
