Facebook is feeling the heat of competition and is looking to make its social networking site better. And since music is a universal hobby, Facebook is now going to follow the lead of Google and Apple and is planning to join the music bandwagon. Rumors are abound that Facebook may start its own music service as early as next month. This is certainly not the first time such rumors have emerged.
Facebook is likely to introduce its new service at the F8 conference, which is scheduled to be held on September 22nd. According to the insiders, Facebook is not planning to host the music and probably will enter into collaboration with an existing music streaming service. Among the suspects is Spotify. Apparently, a few days back Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had posted a status on his Facebook page saying, "Spotify is so good." Ahem, so do we get to see two of them getting hitched?
However, it is also being speculated that Facebook may not enter into any exclusive deal, and may rather have multiple partners for its music venture. Among other features, the music service is likely to flaunt a "happening now" ticker, which will display the music information about you and your friends. The ticker will be perched in the upper right hand side corner of the screen.
Lately, Facebook has been bringing about a flurry of changed. It has revamped the layout and it recently also changed the privacy settings. The social networking site is also working on new photo tagging feature. So, is Facebook feeling threatened by Google+.
