Windows Phone 7 may not have made a splash in mobile
segment, but Microsoft is still placing its bet on the platform. Hence, the continued
efforts to keep it fresh and perky. The company has now introduced new Xbox
Live games for WP7. The mobile operating system also gets some other Xbox Live
related features as well. Microsoft made these announcements during annual
Gamescom, which is being held in Cologne, Germany.
The new features for WP7 include parental control, game
add-ons, Fast Async and avatar awardables. The company is looking to counter
Apple's Game Center. Microsoft is also planning to cash in on the mobile gaming
craze. Windows Phone Mango Games Hub also allows in-game purchases, thus it
will be now a tad too easy for you to go ahead and splash your money on buying
virtual goods.
Another exciting new feature is Fast Async, which is likely to
come handy for multiplayer games. Though, Microsoft did not divulge many
details about this feature but this feature will provide enhanced multiplayer
gaming experience. Microsoft is planning to attract gaming-addicted people to
its mobile platform, and at the very same time, with the introduction of
in-game purchases, it will also be able to lure game developers. Windows Phone
7 Mango update is likely to be available in September.
