Social Networking Craze Continues: PlayStation Vita Joins the Bandwagon

Social Networking space is getting crowded, but that would not deter all the Johnny Come Lately. Sony would be launching its new gaming console with at least four add-ons. The company has already signed pacts with Facebook, Skype, Twitter and Foursquare. Sony made this announcement during a press conference held in Cologne. Sony also announced some new features of Vita including its 3G capabilities. With the new features, Vita has further blurred the distinction between a game console and phone. Though, Sony left a few questions unanswered as well. It is not known whether 3G connection would be required for using Facebook and Twitter integration. The company also refrained from showing the UI of the machine. Sony already has its social microcosm which covers its various systems. This includes friends list and intra-system voice chat function. It is not known how these features would be integrated with new additions. Sony would be launching its new offering in 2012 in the overseas market, though in Japan it is likely to be introduced this holiday season. The console will come with shiny OLED touchscreen. Sony further confirmed that all Vita games will be available in downloadable format. Though, this will lead to the risk of running out of space, since most of these games are expected to be major space hogs. In the meantime, Sony has dropped the price of PS3.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
