Internet Explorer users have long been branded dumb by the users of so-called smarter browsers like FireFox and Chrome. However, a study conducted by AptiQuant, a psychometric consulting firm, shows that it just might be true that IE users are indeed a little dumber than the others. The report suggests that people with lower IQ tend to stick with the familiar and resist upgrades. It categorically stated, "The subjects using any version of Internet Explorer ranked significantly lower on an average than others." People using IE8 were the smartest of the IE lot. So if you are using 8th version of Microsoft's internet browser, then you still have some hope.
After branding IE users as village idiots, the report further studied Chrome, Safari and FireFox users and found no discerning difference in the IQ. Opera users scored the highest on IQ tests. AptiQuant had undertaken the similar study in 2006, but never released that. The firm compared the results and found that "more people on the higher side of the IQ scale have moved away from Internet Explorer in the last five years."
AptiQuant also said that 34 percent of its IE subjects were still using IE7 and had not made any effort to upgrade to newer versions.
