After several hit or miss attempts, Google seems to have hit it big with Google+ and Facebook is already feeling the heat. But Facebook is not going to call it quits and is now busy upping its performance. The social networking site has spruced up its various features in last couple of days and now it has announced the launch of Facebook for Business.
The announcement has come on the heels of similar controversy surrounding Google+, where Google mass-deleted company profile accounts on its social networking site. Though for the sake of fairness, Google had already made it amply clear that in the initial stage, Google+ is open only for personal use. But we got to give it to Facebook for cashing in on the opportunity.
However, Facebook for Business does not come with any additional features. It just makes it easier for businesses to make use of existing features. GigaOm has quoted a Facebook spokesperson as "Facebook allows small businesses to create rich social experiences, build lasting relationships and amplify the most powerful type of marketing -- word of mouth." The spokesperson elaborated that the business users will be able to use Facebook Pages, sponsored stories and a business platform. Well, these features were already there in Facebook. But the timing of creation of facebook.com/business suggests that the social networking site is merely trying to take advantage of Google+ fiasco.
