Malware is becoming a real problem for web surfers especially in the U.S (statistical the most malware ridden cyber structure on the planet.)
Thankfully, there is help at hand. Who from, Google of course? Look on everything you own, they’ll be a sticker- ‘made in Google.’ Jokes aside, After noticing some 'strange web behaviour' during a routine check Google have set up a malware alert system for Windows users on Chrome.
In a post by the company they said: “After collaborating with security engineers at several companies that were sending this modified traffic, we determined that the computers exhibiting this behavior were infected with a particular strain of malicious software, or ‘malware' as a result of this discovery, today some people will see a prominent notification at the top of their Google web search results.”
Obviously there is a bit of a worry that non-savy computer users may freak out especially if you consider the amount of online scams and (rather ironically) malware disguised as malware alerts and scanners.
One worried Googler replied to the blog post with:”It’s too bad that the malware folks in the world already use ‘your computer appears to be infected’ messages to trick people into installing malicious software.” He's got a point but, surely it's better to offer some sort of notification than doing nothing.
