Toshiba’s Thrive Tablet Won’t Wake Up

The Toshiba Thrive is just another Android tablet. But in fairness it's one that's doing fairly well in the market and has tempted many Android fans into the tablet computer market. But there's one thing you want to avoid when you've just released a new slice of hardware, and that's a bug. It happens all too often these days and it destroys the public image of a company and their products and its damn annoying for consumers.

In a problem which could undermine the success of the Thrive, the tablet has gone all lazy on us and once it falls asleep it's not waking up again until it is rebooted, in other words, the wake up button is knackered. You can imagine how irritating that would be, especially if you're a power-saver, or you've left things up which could potentially be swallowed during reboot.

Of course, it's not the worst problem to ever hit a tablet, but the Android and Toshiba forums are buzzing with complaints and tech journalists (like me) are picking up on it and tapping out articles, because let's be honest, Android sells.

Users have reportedly tried a few I.T Crowd style fixes. Turning it off and on again didn't work, nor did a factory reset.

Have you got a Thrive and is it affected by the issue? Or for that matter, have you got any other smartphone or tablet bugs that are driving you up the wall? Let off some steam below.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
