Android is successfully perched at the top spot when it comes to mobile operating system and it is not showing any signs of slowing down. According to the latest numbers, Google activates up to 550,000 Android devices every day. This is about 10 percent higher than the half-a-million figure provided in the month of June.
Android is currently enjoying 4.4 percent growth rate, weekly. No wonder, Google was activating 400,000 devices daily just two months back. In these two months, the company has added 30 million new devices to its kitty. Android currently holds about 53 percent market share in global smartphone segment.
However, Android is not the only one flying high. Twitter is also scaling new heights. The microblogging site is now logging 350 billion tweets every day. In Twitter's own words, "Delivering 350 billion Tweets a day is a terribly fun engineering challenge. But, it doesn't capture how passionate our users are." Twitter has recently celebrated its fifth anniversary.
Twitter is not the one to rest on its laurels and the company is rumored to be in the process of striking a deal with Microsoft. The deal would see deeper integration between Bing and Twitter. The company earlier had the similar pact with Google, which the companies failed to re-negotiate. The companies are currently trying to reach a consensus regarding the licensing fees. Twitter is rumored to be asking $30 million for licensing privileges/
