We got to give it to Facebook for making social networking segment a virtual hotspot. Practically every major tech company, right from Google to Apple, has tried to conquer the field, but unfortunately, none of them had any major success. However, the abysmal performance of other tech giants is not going to deter Microsoft from making its own attempt.
According to the rumors, Microsoft is secretly working on a social networking project nicknamed Tulalip. And what exactly did cause these rumors. Well, the tech giant accidently published its splash page on Socl.com. However, it did realize its mistake pretty quickly and swapped the splash with a message that read, "Thanks for stopping by. Socl.com is an internal design project from a team in Microsoft Research which was mistakenly published to the web. We didn't mean to, honest."
The displayed page described the motto of the service, which was simply, "Find what you need and share what you know easier than ever". Interestingly, it also provided the option of integrating the service with Twitter and Facebook. From its motto, it seems like that the project is much more than a mere 'internal design project'. The interface of the project looked conspicuously similar to WP7. If the rumors prove to be correct, then Facebook has a new competitor to worry about. As it is, it looks like Google+ is all set to give a tough fight to Facebook.
