Google has made multiple attempts to nab social networking fad, and finally it seems to be succeeding with Google+. However, the success of Google+ does not mean that the company would stop innovating. It is already working on a new type of social network, which would more visual and would be based on pictures. The company has dubbed its latest endeavor as 'Photovine', which is now live.
Essentially, this new network connects people through their pictures. Photovine picks out the themes and lets you form networks around those themes. In Google's own words, "”In Photovine, vines connect you with people through the ideas and themes expressed in your photos. A vine is like a constantly growing family of photos connected through a common caption created by you, your friends, and people all over the world.”
New vines would be created based on themes, captions and other factors. Some examples of vines include "Party People" and "What Weekends are Made Of". The motto of the site is "plant a photo, watch it grow"
Interestingly, the app is being shown working on an iPhone, which seems counterintuitive since the parent company of the site also owns Android platform. It is not clear whether the app would be available for both iOS and Android or only for iOS. The site is already live on the web, but there is no service available as yet. No concrete dates for the launch of the app has been provided.
