Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference is underway and the company has added a dash of glamour to the event by launching a slew of WP7 Mango handsets. Among the four new handsets released by the company is Samsung SGH-i937. Microsoft has also partnered with Acer, ZTE and Fujitsu, which decided to target fairer gender by dipping its phone in pink color. Samsung SGH-i937 appears to be WP7 counterpart of Samsung Galaxy S and seems to have a front facing camera. At the moment, not much information is available about the specs of these four new phones.

During the conference, Microsoft admitted that WP7 failed to meet the expectations but also said that with newer updates, the OS is expected to gain market share. However, Microsoft has sold over 400 million licenses for Windows 7 and now the company is looking to send Windows XP to final voyage. The company is urging the users to shift from XP to Windows 7. It also took time to aim shots at Apple while it mocked the Cupertino company for selling only 20 million licenses for Mac OSX. Steve Ballmer went on to say, "Now, 20 is too much, but 400, last time I checked, is a lot more than 20.”

Microsoft also sent signals about its upcoming platform Windows 8, which is likely to help company in breaking into tablets segment. Microsoft may pat itself on its back for Windows 7, but its performance in the smartphone and tablet segment has been dismal so far and is getting even worse. The company is looking to reverse the trend with Windows 8.
