Google + has made quite a splash around the world as the new social network on the block, it’s the latest attempt from Google to de-thrown Facebook and Twitter and has surpasses the 10 million users milestone over the weekend.
Google's early success is quite an achievement, but they have a long way to get until they overturn Facebook and it's 750 million users.
But Google’s attempt has a lot going for it, it contains the best of Facebook: sharing and discussing status updates, photos and links, but avoids the worst: It allows you to send different updates to discreet groups, instead of worrying about sharing everything to your 10,000 contacts or everyone on the Web.
Apart from a very attractive and slick user interface, Google has millions of users already using many of its free services like email, Docs etc. besides enjoying a near monopoly in search business, which Facebook and Twitter don’t have.
Apparently the newly formed social network had 7.3 million Google+ account activations on July 10th according to Paul Allen, who founded Ancestry.com and has worked on several Facebook apps.
Allen's been following the progress of Google+ closely, and claims that the next milestone may be just around the corner.
"I project, that Google will easily pass 10 million users tomorrow and could reach 20 million user by this coming weekend if they keep the Invite Button available."
10 million users per week is an activation number Google will definitely want to continue if it's got a chance of taking on Facebook's 700 million. Initial response to Google+ has been largely positive, but what do you think? Let us know below.
