We all like to start the week with a good release date. Today I have two for you. One for the new BlackBerry Bold and another (admittedly a slightly unusual one) for the HTC bootloader unlock.
First up, the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900. RIM continues its struggles to push BlackBerry back to the top of the smartphone tower with the new bold which is expected sometime this summer. Online retailers are hinting a dates ranging from early August to mid-September, either way thee release is imminent.
Play.com says the Bold Touch will be available from August 12, 2011.
Clove.co.uk has the release listed as late August
Whilst Carphone Warehouse is more ambiguous with a release date set at 'late summer.'
Amazon.co.uk are killing the excitement with a September 15 date.
When the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 does land it will come with a much needed 1.2GHz processor a 2.8-inch high resolution touch screen and the new BlackBerry 7 operating system. Plus It’s the thinnest BlackBerry yet and comes with the legendary BB physical QWERTY keyboard. If there's a BB phone that could take on Android it's this one.
And the HTC unlock release date? Well firstly, if you don't know about the whole Bootloader story. Basically HTC have gone all Apple on our arse and have clamped down big style on Bootloaders (the portal for hacks/mods/jailbreaks etc,) But unlike Apple HTC have listened to the boos and hisses of their customers and taken a U-turn on the issue.
"There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices," said HTC CEO Peter Chou in May.
Now in July we finally have a date set for the HTC liberation. Just like the Bold the HTC unlock release date is set for some time in August say HTC.
