Asus seems to face difficulties keeping Eee Pad Slider launch on track. The convertible tablet was expected to hit the UK markets in May. The launch was then delayed without citing any specific reason. But now, the tablet would not be arriving in August either. Asus UK has come with the announcement that the tablet would now hit the market some time in this autumn. However, it did not provide any price point either.
Asus supplemented its statement with a couple of surveys, which the company claims that would be helpful in "understand(ing) what is important for our customers." Though, Asus did not mention it, but the company might be having second thoughts about launching the tablet in an already saturated market. However, Asus is doing pretty good for itself. Its Eee Pad Transformer is the second largest selling tablet in the world, right behind Apple iPad.
Earlier this year, Asus had announced its plans to launch three Android tablets during the year. So far, it has released only Eee Pad Transformer. Transformer, thanks to its specs and sensible pricing, has become quite a hit. Asus is planning to announce the pricing and the exact launch date for Eee Pad Slider later this month. But given the frequent delays we have seen so far, we are going to remain skeptical. Till then, let's just keep our fingers crossed that we get to see this unique form tablet in the year 2011 itself.
