Facebook and Spotify Team Up To Make Music Dashboard?

Rumour has it Facebook are developing a new music dashboard which will allow users to play tunes through their Facebook page via streaming services such as Spotify. According to GigaOm, a button will be installed at the bottom of the Facebook page where the chat button currently resides, which will serve as a controller for playing music, as well as a snapshot of what friends are currently listening to.

There's a lot of information about the apparent new dashboard so sources are either very inventive with their lies or they're telling the truth and a Spotify/Facebook partnership really is incoming. It's no huge surprise since there's already a certain level of interaction between the two companies, plus we all know Zuckerberg wants in on EVERYTHING. And remember the social-networking of the Stone age that was MSN messenger (or Windows Live as it's called now?) That told you what you're friends were listening to (via Windows Media player) and it was a popular feature too, with all the cool kids showing of their latest favourite new bands.

As well as music notifications, we will also be treated to recommended songs, top songs, top albums and recent listens, giving us a whole host of information about our friends music taste; possibly useful, but possibly very infuriating too, especially if you're a Stone Roses man and all your friends are more Lil' Wayne and Rihanna.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
