iPhone 5 Release Date Sept 7th with New Camera and Dual-Flash?

With the news last week the Apple's iPhone 5 was still on course for September release now the tech world has been turning its attention to a possible release date.

Rather than just predicting what month the phone will drop Cnet UK has gone one  step further and suggested that the phone will be release on September 7th.

Yesterday, on their blog they wrote,"We've charted the dates, earwigged the rumours and consulted our iPod Ouija board. After 16 hours of number-crunching on the CNET UK supercomputer, we have determined the most likely release date for the iPhone 5 -- 7 September 2011."

Now we would suggest that you take this prediction with a pinch of salt, but the general feeling is that Apple will postpone the annual iPod refresh and use the space to unveil the successor to the iPhone 4 instead.

Factor in the release of a new iOS in the same month it would make sense for Apple to bundle that with a new handset for extra wow factor.

Although many other commentators have suggested that the phone won't come until 2012 - while this is a possibility, we'd be surprised as Apple will struggle to compete with the likes of the Nexus S 4G and it's unlike Apple to simply rely on their name and they will want to lead from the front with a new shiny product.

One thing we can expect from the iPhone is a new camera, a couple of months ago it was leaked that Sony are going to supply camera sensors for future Apple products. The current thinking is the phone will come with 8 mega-pixel camera and a dual-led flash.

According to Apple insider, a Taiwanese source has revealed that Apple is sourcing both camera components and led flash part from new suppliers.

The general feeling is Apple will opt for a dual-flash, with two LED units situated a few millimetres apart on the rear of the iPhone 5. This has been a new feature of a number of compact cameras and is designed to give a wider coverage of light.

Apple likes to offer new things, and by adding a new type of camera flash it would give them the edge over competitors. In a market which is constantly changing this is important, as having something unique for a few weeks or months can mean you own the market as other play catch up.
