Apple iPhone for £169 with No Strings Attached!

With the recent price cut to £169, the sexiest gadget of the year, the Apple iPhone has just become affordable and has led to a love parade at the Carphone Warehouse stores across the UK with savvy shoppers walking out with their latest trophy. But, like any marriage there's always a contract involved and although the iPhone has just got cheaper, to keep you under lock and key you are tied into an 18 month contract costing £35 per month, which really works out to be £800. I just think it's a bit of an expensive marriage, don't you think?

Well rip up the marriage certificate and break away from the shackles of married life as you maybe able to get out of this contract without a scratch if you pay attention and listen carefully…

If you've been following most of the news since the launch of the iPhone you may have heard about unlocking the iPhone. This means that you can take your other half home and before you get yourself in a sticky situation by committing yourself to an 18 month marriage with O2 look at taking the cheaper option by unlocking it which means that you can use the phone without activiting the contract on most if not all other networks.

You might think it's a huge faff and if you're non techie then you won't be able to unlock it. Well, according to Ziphone.org unlocking your iPhone is breeze and say that the 'Ziphone's so easy a Caveman can do it'. Ziphone is probably the most popular unlocking software but be warned there are a few drawbacks of using this software, such as voiding your warranty and are known to give problems with Wifi. Here is a website which compares the different unlocking methods. However you can use the iPhone as a phone and on any network if you did successfully unlock it.

I haven't got an iPhone or unlocked one but I know many people want one and have done this. Reading other forums many people really just don't want to pay for the contract. Help them out by joining the forum and if you know more or have done this then spills the bean such as, are there any risks that Apple can find with those people who didn't take on the contract and ask them to pay up? As far as I have read on other forums there is no contract of this nature, Is there? Are there any problems once you unlock it and is there really any point?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
