So we all knew the Spotify wanted to see their music streaming service on as many channels and devices of distribution as possible – but what we didn't think was that it would sign a deal with Facebook so users can stream and share music from the world's most popular social networking site.

According to US news site Forbes, "sources close to the deal," have told them that the new offering could be live in as little as a couple of weeks.

The new deal will see Spotify's icon appear on the Facebook homepage and will allow users to log automatically into the music app and share their Spotify music collection with their friends to create the best social music experience as possible.

The icon, according to Forbes, will appear on the left-hand side of a user's Facebook news feed in every country that Spotify is currently available in. So if your in the US you won't be seeing it just yet, but were almost certain it won't be long until Spotify eventually reaches America.

It’s long been understood that the company is heading into the US, but thus far a launch hasn’t been forthcoming – and, since its announcement, Apple has started looking closely at launching its own, rival streaming service.

A partnership with Facebook would give Spotify a massive advantage in the US streaming market – but neither company is thus far willing to spill the beans on what is rumoured to be a major deal.

It says the service is currently being tested before launch."¨It is believed that the package will be called either "Facebook Music" or "Spotify on Facebook".

The move will build on the partnership that Facebook and Spotify already have, which allows users of the music service to share playlists on the social networking site via its desktop app.

However neither Facebook nor Spotify have so far commented this latest development.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
