Asus Bucks the Trend: To Boost Eee Pad Transformer Production

Barring a few exception, most of the so called 'iPad Killer' have proved to be mere duds, with their production far outstripping their demand. However, with a couple of good decision, Asus has managed to escape that kind of fate. Its Eee Pad Transformer is experiencing consistent demand but there are just not enough units floating around. Asus is now going to address this problem and its spokesperson has claimed, "We are ramping production every week to address the supply concerns, including almost daily air shipments into North America. We expect the supply line to improve significantly over the coming weeks."

In order to have sustained demand, Asus certainly took some good decisions. The tablet is very attractively priced at $399, sans dock. Well, somebody learn a lesson from Xoom debacle. This 10.1 inch tablet comes equipped with tablet-specific Android 3.0. With another $150, you can opt for a docking system, which effectively turns your tablet into a netbook complete with QWERTY keyboard.

With 10.6 x 6.9 x 0.51" dimensions, the tablet may not be as petite as iPad 2, but it offers pretty good performance with its Tegra  2 processor and 1 GB worth of memory. It also sports two cameras where rear camera is good 5 MP strong and front facing camera offers 1.2 MP. It also offers a Micro SD Card slot. There is an additional SD card reader on the mobile dock also, which offers two USB 2.0 ports as well. Its battery life is said to be 9.5 hours long, however the dock has separate battery chamber and this can augment the overall battery life to impressive 16 hours.

If the above specifications have got you salivating over the tablet, then you just have to wait only a little longer.
