Windows 7 has been an irrefutable success, and now Microsoft is working towards Windows 8. Microsoft is completely revamping its operating system and is presumably making it more touch friendly. Apart from this, it is also expected to have cloud support and now it has emerged that on the tune of Mac OS, Windows 8 may also have its own app store. This new factoid dovetails well with the prevalent hypothesis that Windows 8 is an attempt to merge desktop and mobile OS. We just hope Microsoft does not fall between two stools attempting this feat.

The new store is expected to be HTML 5 based and thus would act as one more blow to Adobe Flash. The store would also sync with Microsoft's cloud computing service, Azure. If these rumors are true then Apple really needs to ramp up its work on iCloud. Both services would allow users to sync their apps and access their account through any compatible internet connected device. However, there had been some rumors related to Out of Box Experience to OOBE too, which pointed that the cloud sync feature will be optional and users may simply choose to sync their devices only with the computer they created their account with.

The rumors about Windows Store are not new. Some time back, there were even a couple of pictures doing rounds, however, later, those pictures were found to be fake. Now, there are some other screen shots of the logo of the app store and these pictures lend further credence to the rumor that the OS is going to borrow heavily from Windows Phone 7. However, Microsoft learn its lessons from Apple-Amazon feud, and instead of using word 'app', it will simply call it Windows Store. Among all the fake leaks, I guess we will have to wait for the official nod for establishing the authenticity of the latest ones. Microsoft is likely to uncover early release of Windows 8 during Professional Developers Conference, which is scheduled to be held in September.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
