Vodafone Put Smartphone Chargers In London Cabs

Ever had a few pre-drinks before a night out, jumped into a taxi and realised you've forgotten your changer and your phone is guaranteed to run out before you even enter the club? Of course you have, we all have and unless you're Lady Ga Ga who apparently has beef with being contacted when she is partying, you'd be thrilled to find a smartphone charger in your London cab, wouldn't you?

Well it's your lucky day in part of a part of a £10m advertising scheme Vodafone has decked out 500 black cabs in London with mobile phone chargers which its customers can use for free. After improving coverage in the capital Vodafone are keen to get their name out there and this is just one ad 'stunt' out of many.

Customers will also be given the ability to pay for their journey using their handset. Customers can text the licence number of the black cab to a special code and the fare will be added to their bill.

Guy Laurence, chief executive of Vodafone UK, said: “We are committed to offering London the best possible network. We have already made hundreds of improvements to increase coverage, capacity and reliability to ensure Londoners can always stay in touch with friends and family.”

Well it's all very well and good if you live in London, but what about the rest of us? I'd love a free smartphone charger in my local taxi.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
