Portal 2 Top Of Game Charts Thanks To Xbox 360

The geeks have beaten the fitness freaks and after two weeks at the top of the UK all-format game chart, Zumba Fitness has been knocked down to number four by the second instalment of cult sci-fi game Portal.

Elsewhere in the charts remade classic Mortal Kombat is settled at number two not quite having the clout to take on Portal 2. The ubiquitous Call Of Duty series sees itself climb into the charts again with Black Ops hanging in at number 3 after price promotions boosted sales. Another classic game franchise, Lego Star Wars is at number five with the third game of the series.

The lower end of the charts is a bit less interesting, but for the sake of completion, here it is- Operation Flashpoint: Red River, FIFA 11 and Crysis 2, Wii Fit Plus and Homefront

Chart-Track has dissected the success of Portal 2 and it seems that they've got Xbox 360 to thank for their position at the top of the ladder, with Microsoft’s console accounting for 54 per cent of overall sales. PC sales seem low but digital downloads through Steam etc aren't counted. PS3 sales though were much lower than expected. Maybe it's just a coincidence but some are pointing the finger at the Playstation Network outage

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
