It's been a terrific week for Apple. First it announced its quarterly numbers and the financial numbers very causally tell you that the tech behemoth increased its net income by 95 percent. It also became the world's biggest phone handset maker, toppling down mighty Nokia. Not a shabby performance, if you ask me! Another highlight of the week was Apple's foray into streaming music service. By the end of the week, the company has already signed licensing arrangements with at least two major record labels. So, forgive us if we did not make much hoopla about iPhone 5. No worries, we are here to make amends and provide you with a round-up of latest rumors about the forthcoming phone.
The latest rumors pertain to the probable launch date of the phone. Depending on the source you can get hold of, you may expect the phone to arrive at any starting from June. There are yet other reports which claim that Apple is going to skip its usual iPhone cycle and will delay the launch to some time in September. There are also several different reasons cited for the delay. While some claim that Apple is perfecting the nuances of the phone, which may delay the launch, others are holding natural calamities in Japan as the main reason.
There are also rumors of iPhone 5 getting NFC-like technology support, which may be the cause for pushing back the date. While this rumor has got no legs to stand on, but there is another rumor which may turn out to be true. While delivering the quarterly numbers for Verizon, its executive let it slip that Apple may integrate its CDMA and GSM handset, thus making iPhone a truly global phone.
It is also expected to come with 4G support. This again seems credible since we are getting to see quite a few 4G handset floating around, and if Apple does not include this support in its fifth iteration, then I guess iPhone 6 4G will be the case of too little, too late. Albeit, the rumor has been denied by the company's chief operating officer Tim Cook, but since his denial was oblique, we are still going to keep our hopes up.
